COD: This is a technical parameter used in the chemical industry, also known as chemical oxygen consumption (COD). COD reflects the degree of pollution by reducing substances in water. Reductive substances in water include organic matter, nitrite, ferrite, sulfide and so on. When potassium dichromate is used as an oxidant under acidic conditions, COD is almost the dissolved oxygen content consumed by the complete oxidation of organic pollutants in wastewater, which is represented by CODCr. At the same time, BOD, or biochemical oxygen demand, is a comprehensive indicator of the number of pollutants in water that require oxygen, such as organic matter.

The units PPM are expressed in milligrams per liter. The higher the value, the more organic pollutants in the water, the more serious the pollution.
